An update from the Hanbury Parish Councillors: –
Over the last few months Staffordshire Highways have been working around Hanbury, carrying out repairs to the many pot holes around the village, with extensive work carried out on Chapel Lane.
Staffordshire Public Rights of way have installed various new finger posts around the village to aid those walking in our Parish, ensuring they are heading in the right direction and staying on the footpaths whilst enjoying the beautiful countryside. The Parish Council has once again applied for a Community Path Initiative grant to provide funds for further maintenance and repairs to the footpaths and associated infrastructure around our villages, so Parishioners and visitors can continue to enjoy the walks.
Unfortunately, the Parish Council has had to take the decision to remove all the wooden play equipment from the Playing Field. The equipment has become dangerous, almost completely rotten and clearly no longer safe for the children to use.
This decision was not taken lightly, but following a complete lack of response from our Parishioners after asking for a year for views and suggestions, the only recourse was to remove the equipment to ensure the safety of all.
The goal posts and the swings are not affected by this decision – they will remain in place, and in addition the Parish Council has applied for a grant for the purchase and installation of some new picnic benches on the playfield. So it is hoped that families will still be able to enjoy this village facility.
The Parish Accounts for 2019/2020 have been completed and signed off and are now available on the Parish Council website for those who wish to view them.
The Council will not be holding a Litter pick this year due to the Covid-19 restrictions. The Councillors are very grateful to all the people of Hanbury that have been litter picking in these very uncertain times whilst they have been out walking.
The Council would further like to thank those who have donated to the Food Banks in Burton – the Parish Clerk was contacted by the Burton Hope Co-ordinator asking specifically for thanks to be passed onto the Parishioners in Hanbury.
The next Parish Council meeting will be held on Monday 7th September.
Finally, the Councillors wish you all to stay safe in these very trying times!
