EXCITING TIMES AND OPPORTUNITIES WITH HPC

The buzz around the playing field development continues apace with the fantastic fundraising efforts of Annie and Iggy Allsop organising the grand raffle which was drawn at the hugely well attended Fun Day at the Cock on Bank Holiday Monday. Thanks to all those who donated so many brilliant prizes and of course those who bought tickets (hope you were a lucky winner!). It was a real party atmosphere and a great village event to get us all together after the difficulties of the last 18 months. Thanks to The Cock for feeding and watering everyone so well. That was the best pork bap I’ve had in years!

As for the playing field, it may seem that things went a bit quiet and that’s true as the man power we needed to turn the topsoil into ‘the mound’ was busy doing day jobs! However the mound/embankment for the slide and climbing wall is now in place thanks to Dave Jones and Tom Sale, ably assisted by Steve Harris who has now put up barriers around it while the mound beds down and we seed it. This means we can now open the field again for the swings, football and games. Thanks to Ian Garner who is regularly mowing the pitch so there is a good, flat surface to play on.

WE NEED YOU. Watch out on Face Book as we arrange further days to do the planting, place the timbers and set the tyre stepping stones in place. WE NEED YOU EVEN MORE to consider joining us as a Parish Councillor to serve our brilliant village- we still have one vacancy. Meetings are held six times a year on the 2nd Monday of the month and last no longer than 90 minutes so it’s not an over onerous time commitment. We are delighted to welcome Dave Bailey, who lives on Hanbury Hill and joined us in July.
